Lagoa de Óbidos

São Martinho do Porto / Foz do Arelho (Lagoa de Óbidos)

Weather only, by design

Lagoa de Óbidos is a sheltered coastal lagoon. Open-Meteo's marine model has no coverage inside it — it would answer a lagoon query with the nearest ocean cell — so this page shows no calmness score, wave height, sea state or water-temperature forecast. Wind, air temperature and UV are genuinely forecast for the lagoon area.

Bathing beaches

Know before you get in

  • Strong currents near the inlet and the sandbanks.
  • No jumping or diving from the old Foz do Arelho pier — submerged objects.
  • In the bathing season, no boats, boards or kites in the lower lagoon.
  • Lifeguards only in the official bathing season (mid-June to mid-September).
  • The lagoon is tidal — the water rises and falls, less than at the coast.
  • The bottom drops steeply in places at Foz do Arelho.
