Rugged, less-developed beach past Lagoa de Albufeira where the coast turns toward Sesimbra; picks up plenty of SW-W swell and stays relatively uncrowded outside peak summer. Facing and swell window corrected 2026-08-29: facing 235 -> 283, window 200-280 -> 248-328. Three independent lines of evidence. (1) Sampling the OSM shore normal across a 13x13 grid around the spot gives a consensus of 283 with a spread of only 2 degrees — the tightest in the whole coast audit, as expected on a long straight beach. (2) Satellite imagery shows the old 235 pointing obliquely ALONG the sand rather than out of it, while 283 is perpendicular to both the shoreline and the incoming swell lines. (3) The old window made this one of only THREE west-facing spots out of 77 shadowed from a NW 310 groundswell (exposure 0.15), and the other two have real shadowing features — salir-do-porto is a lagoon mouth and baleal-sul sits behind the Baleal promontory. Meco is open coast with nothing in the way, and its neighbours on the same stretch are all fully open at 310: Guincho 255-340, Santa Cruz 250-320, Espinho 240-320. The new window matches that family. Consequence, stated because it is large: on a classic NW groundswell L3 goes 1.5 -> 7.5, and L1 goes 4.5 -> 0.0 because at full exposure the wave is correctly too big for a beginner.
